FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What should I wear?

You will need heeled boots with traction on the soles and long pants, preferably jeans, jods, or breeches. Helmets are required for ALL riders. We have helmets you may borrow until you can purchase your own.

If this is your first time at Columbia Equestrian Center, don't forget to print and fill out a riding waiver.

Do I need prior riding experience?

Not at all. We accept riders of all ages and experience levels.

Western, English, Saddleseat? What's the difference?

These are different riding disciplines. We teach all disciplines here at CEC. While the core principles of riding ultimately cross between all disciplines, the equipment used, cues given, and competitions vary greatly.

If you would like to know more about some of the most common disciplines, click here for a list of brief descriptions from the University of Wisconsin Extension.

Can I pay for lessons biweekly or monthly?

Payment is due at or before time of service. Please speak with a trainer if you need to arrange an alternate payment schedule.

What payment methods are accepted?

You can pay with cash or check. We do not accept credit cards. Ask a trainer about other digital payment methods.

How do I become involved with horse shows?

When you come to your weekly lessons you will notice a large dry erase board outside of the tack room. We will post all of our upcoming shows with class options on that board. All you need to do is sign your name and about 3 choices of lesson horses you would like to show. Talk to Kris or Anne if you are concerned at all about what classes/horses would be appropriate for you.

When will the next camp dates be posted?

Camp dates have to be planned around the show schedule. Once the showing season has been announced we will be able to choose dates for camps. We will post them on the website as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience in this. We're eager to know too!

Do you offer trail rides?

We do not offer trail rides to the public.

Where can I find the free VERSA horse coloring book?
